I'm Theo Avgerinos — a Greek-American filmmaker, director, and photographer based in Santa Fe, New Mexico.

I've been behind a camera since I was a kid with my dad's Super 8mm. My first short was a documentary I shot for my Eagle Scout project. At Bucknell I co-founded the school's first student film production company and helped establish its first interdepartmental Cinema Studies major — the foundation of the Film Studies program there now. The pattern has been pretty consistent since: get interested in someone's story, figure out how to tell it.

My debut feature, Fifty Pills, premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival, with Kristen Bell, Jane Lynch, Lou Taylor Pucci, Eddie Kaye Thomas, and Michael Peña. My second feature, Americons, had a national theatrical release through AMC, with Jon Gries and Trai Byers leading.

The project I've spent the most of my life on is Rising Hope — an award-winning feature documentary set in the Mississippi Delta, shot anamorphically over five years, about generational poverty and the people refusing to give up on each other.

Alongside the films, I direct branded and commercial work — often shooting it myself, on a collection of vintage glass I've built up over the years.

I also run Jet Focus, a specialized photo and video studio focused entirely on aircraft.

When the camera is not in my hand, it’s usually replaced by a guitar.
